-
How long can the box be out of the freezer before the fish start to thaw?
Our boxes are transported to you via a single logistics provider in the Czech Republic, which delivers frozen goods to customers' homes. With our special insulated boxes, we guarantee that your fish will remain frozen up to 6 more hours after delivery, as long as they are not exposed to direct sunlight in temperatures exceeding 30°C. :)This has been tested in office spaces, which means you can have our fish delivered to your workplace if you're not at home or don't have access to a freezer.
-
Can I pause or cancel my membership?
We are very flexible when it comes to scheduling. You can pause your plan for up to 30 days in your account settings. If you need more flexibility, you can reach out to our team and we'll be happy to reschedule your next order for you.
-
Can I buy a box of fish just once?
Considering sustainability and fish availability, we offer only a subscription model, which can be paused or canceled at any time without any fees.
If you wish to order more boxes at once, it will be necessary to create a new subscription, which will operate in parallel with the existing one. Of course, you can create another subscription to replenish missing fish from your first active subscription.
For instance, if you subscribe to one large box every 2 months but still run short of fish, you have the option to create another subscription for a small box with a delivery every 3 months. This allows you to flexibly adjust your order and ensure you always have an ample supply of fish.
-
Is the fish fresh?
We freeze our fish immediately after catching to preserve all their nutritional value and excellent flavor. The process of shock freezing does not create ice crystals and does not harm the structure of the meat. We then vacuum pack the fish to prevent them from drying out. All of this is the magic that makes our fish taste like it was just caught from the sea.
-
What does sustainability really mean?
When defining sustainability, we look to Alaska. Alaska has sustainability practices written into its constitution. Article VII introduces the practice of "sustained yield." This applies to the amount of a certain resource, in our case fish, that can be caught without depletion. So, we only take what nature can replenish.
-
How are the fish caught?
During the summer season, we catch salmon using shallow nets in Bristol Bay, while in the winter season, we catch cod using cages in the Bering Sea. We never use bottom trawling nets, which ensures that we always catch fish in a purely sustainable way. This means that each of our customers actively contributes to the protection of the oceans by consuming our products.
-
Do you deliver throughout the Czech Republic?
The logistics of frozen goods are still on the rise, but we have managed to negotiate with Family Market. They will deliver our products to you without any interruption to the cold chain at a temperature of -28°C. They are the only company with nationwide coverage in this regard. Therefore, you can have the goods delivered to your home, work, or even your vacation home. We always try to find a feasible solution for our customers.
-
Do you sell farmed fish?
Never.
-
Why is it a monthly membership/subscription model?
Our membership model allows us to estimate how much fish we need to catch for you during the season. This approach aligns with our commitment to sustainability and fulfills our goal to improve your health by having you regularly eat our wild fish.
-
How do I order a gift through my existing account?
You simply create a new subscription and in the last step of your order - before sending and paying for it - you select that you want the subscription as a gift. You can also include a message for the recipient.
-
Why are individual fillets wrapped in so much plastic? Is it possible to reduce it?
Good question! If there was a way at this moment to reduce the amount of plastic used in packaging the fish from Alaska to you, we would be the first ones to adopt it. We are constantly monitoring the market, and as soon as a suitable solution becomes available, we'll take advantage of it. However, for now, there is no other viable option.
